Revolutionising Learning
What makes our approach different
Vocab Cards
Why vocab cards? The cards are intended to be used directly in the student’s environment to increase the number of times that the learner encounters the information. This will assist with recall according to our research in education.
Learning Theory
We are leveraging the work done on spaced repetition by Hermann Ebbinghaus in the 1880s. The idea became more popular in 60s through the work of Melton, Landauer, Bjork, and in the mid 80s by Piotr Wozniak. Wide adoption of the idea was promoted by the use of flashcards although we feel that flashcards tend to miss many of the benefits that embedding the material into our natural environment can have as our method is more immersive, engaging and effective.
Why Kickstarter?
The Kickstarter Make/100 program offers an opportunity for us to feature our ideas on a global stage and to assess the level of interest in developing the vocab cards across more languages.
Our growth plan
Expanded range of languages
We are going to start with those languages that we’ve been associated with on a personal level, then expand to other languages as indicated by feedback. We are currently working on our first series of French cards however we will soon publish a set of cards in Japanese and German, followed soon thereafter in Lithuanian, Russian and Chinese.
Licensing our card artwork to schools
There will be times when one 3d printer, one laser printer, one laminator and one guillotine will not be able to keep up with demand. It will make sense to relinquish control of the artwork to schools so that they can print and distribute cards to their students directly.
Building application and website resources
This website contains some hidden pages that will be revealed by scanning the QR codes on the cards supplied. The linked pages will provide audio to aid pronounciation of the featured word. We will go beyond that goal, though, towards a more comprehensive learning product as our resources and team expands.
